Position Purpose:

District Sales Manager

As a District Sales Manager you’ll be responsible for the overall sales effort and effectiveness of a sales team in order to achieve the objectives of the district. You will develop and maintain a high performance sales culture and will be responsible for staff management functions. As the District Sales Manager you will be a key tactical leader and will be responsible for developing a team of high-quality and high-performance Sales Executives and Account Managers. You will also responsible for all tasks of the district associated with revenue generation and having overall shared responsibility in conjunction with district operations staff to ensure customer retention and satisfaction. In addition, the District Sales Manager will assist the sales team in developing skills associated with effectiveness with business development (specifically prospecting, call preparation, pipeline management, sales process execution, performance management, presentation skills, and continually improving the quantity and quality of new business). You will be accountable for achieving the aggregate annual volume, revenue, margin, and net contribution targets established for the district.

The District Sales Manager will maintain and enforce Shred-it’s policies, standards, and practices within the district and ensures consistent implementation and adherence to Shred-it’s Vision, Mission and Values.

Key Job Activities:


  • Participate in the development of the branch or district operating plans and lead the development of the annual sales and marketing plan staying in alignment with region objectives and corporate strategies and objectives.
  • Manages a comprehensive forecast of revenue and profitability and other key performance indicators as laid out by the Company, and ensures timely presentation to executives of summary information at pre-determined dates.
  • Execute initiatives that will ensure performance to plans for the branch or district.
  • Optimise the effectiveness of the Company’s investments in sales and marketing programs and initiatives.
  • Continually ensure that the district’s growth is sustainable through the active management of the district aggregate prospect pipeline.
  • Develop and implement approved sales incentive programs for Sales Executives and Account Managers.
  • Manages activity and results reporting Sales Executive activity levels to UK Sales Director or appropriate member of management.
  • Maintain an effective developmental program to prepare sales executives to enter their sales assignment with peak performance.
  • Monitor and manage the target process to ensure that timely contact is made.
  • Ensure 100% identification of target prospects in the market.
  • Personally manage the process for each individual target prospect.
Experience (EMEAA):

Along with your strong Sales Management and communication skills you will also possess the following attributes:

  • Solid experience of sales management is highly recommended.
  • Demonstrable previous sales experience in business-to-business services involving varying sales cycles and multiple levels of decision makers.
  • Experience in high volume/high transaction industry.
  • Previous industry experience preferred, including an understanding of document destruction and/or records management, business continuity and risk management solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of sales theory and sales cycle.
  • Experience with budget management.
  • Proven leadership in successfully driving accelerated revenue growth and achieving results.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership of a multiple branch/unit environment.
  • Demonstrated and applied knowledge of formal sales and sales management methodology.
  • Ability to travel, with occasional overnight travel required.
