Position Purpose:

Provide ongoing technical support for all Stericycle Microsoft SQL Server Production, Development and QA database servers focused on the areas of Security, Maintenance, Optimization, Availability and Recoverability. In addition, the DBA Senior will be expected to take a leadership role in architecting strategies for efficient Database Administration.

Key Job Activities:

Manages and coordinates all database activities including database replication, data population, clustering, log shipping, performance monitoring and tuning, and backups and recovery. Develops efficient and sustainable strategies, policies, and procedures for database systems administration tasks. Familiar with AlwaysOn technologies as well as other high availability solutions. Has some experience troubleshooting SQL Server related performance issues. Provides leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to the other DBAs and IS team members on database systems function. Participate in on-call rotation. Participate on the production deployment team handling SQL object deployments. Performs other related duties as required or requested.

Experience Required:

Seven or more years of proven experience with database administration in the Microsoft SQL Server environment, demonstrating a good knowledge of database software and operating systems. Demonstrates excellent knowledge of SQL server security, transact-SQL, transaction management, SQL server metadata and internal structures, indexing (all aspects), monitoring and maintenance techniques and tools, replication, linked servers, CDC, Change Tracking, and SSIS. Possesses expert skills in T-SQL debugging, diagnosing performance issues, and general SQL troubleshooting. Participate in on-call rotation.

Preferred Education: in Bachelors or Equivalent
