Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for managing Information technology projects through requirements definition, planning, testing, and implementation.

Key Job Activities:

Project Planning

  • Work with Stericycle business sponsors and IT resources to define the requirements and scope of the project.
  • Work with management to obtain the resources needed for the project.
  • Schedule tasks, deadlines, and key milestones specified by the IT Department’s Standard Project Workflow.
  • Identify and look for ways to mitigate resource constraints and other risks associated with the project timeline.

 

Project Execution

  • Manage the status of Development and Testing resources for the project. Work with Production Control to ensure a successful deployment of all software and hardware specified by the project.
  • Review project deliverables, and pull in subject matter experts to address issues, as needed.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Test for formal sign-off by the business sponsors.

 

Project Reporting

  • Meet with business sponsors on a regular basis to communicate project progress and discuss issues.
  • Resolve issues with the appropriate level of management.
  • Effectively manage “scope creep” by building consensus about the necessity to change the original project plan.

Education:

Required Education: in Bachelors or Equivalent

Experience (North America):

  • Education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, engineering or science, or the equivalent in related work experience.  PMP certification is a plus.
  • Five or more years of experience in a business or IT environment, including two or more years of project management experience
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and experience in requirement gathering and design deliverables.
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of data structures, data flow, and human interface fundamentals.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with Stericycle development tools/platform:
  • MS Windows and Vista OS.  
  • .NET, SQL Server 2000/2005, ASP.NET 2.0, Team Foundation Server. 
  • Experience with Planview EnterpriseOne and ProjectPlace is a plus
  • Demonstrates a passion for delivering excellent customer experiences.
  • Demonstrates the ability to ask questions and gather information in order to create project status reports.  
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify problems and suggest possible causes and solutions.  
  • Demonstrates the ability to review and proofread work for accuracy and complete specific aspects of assignments, as directed.  Concentrates on tasks at hand, even in distracting work environments.
  • Demonstrates the ability to present ideas and information in a clear, concise, organized, and diplomatic manner; ask appropriate questions in order to obtain information; listen to others effectively to ideas and questions; maintain composure when challenged.  Present prepared information to individual and groups in a manner that is clear and concise, holds their interest and addresses their needs or concerns.
  • Demonstrates the ability to generate new ideas; recognize the need for and develop new approaches to problem resolution.  
  • Demonstrates the ability to deal openly and honestly with internal and external customers while building credibility and maintaining trust.  Exhibits empathy and sensitivity for the needs of customers.  Is perceived by others as being helpful and supportive.  Will be able to hold people accountable for roles and responsibilities within a project.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage own time, activities, and resources.  Identify specific activities required to accomplish objectives, rank them in order of importance, and coordinate and take action to achieve desired results.  Prioritize multiple activities and projects.  
  • Demonstrates the ability to; follow rules, guidelines, and procedures; apply past experience and processes to current assignments.  
  • Ability to organize, manage, and lead projects effectively – meeting goals in a “can do” culture.

Certifications and/or Licenses:

Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
