Position Purpose:

The Senior Director of Digital Marketing leads the strategy, planning, and execution of Digital Marketing as well as the broader use of technology within Marketing through the Digital Think Tank. The role owns execution of all elements of Digital Marketing in North America while ensuring global alignment around technology platforms (e.g. Adobe Experience Manager), agency support (e.g. Web and media agencies), and strategy/approach in partnership with International marketing. The role is accountable for delivering meaningful impact to the organization by acquiring new customers, improving lead generation, nurturing leads, and ultimately driving conversions, primarily for inbound channels, through the millions of dollars of investment spent per year to drive results in this channel.

One of the Senior Director’s most important objectives is owning and optimizing return on digital marketing spend. This goes beyond millions of paid media spend and includes agency support, technology tools, and internal resourcing. The scope of this role is large – this individual will lead a team of Digital Marketing experts aligned functionally to paid media, organic search, website development, conversation rate optimization, and content operations as well as a number of technology and agency partners. To execute this mandate effectively, this role must partner closely with Marketing Automation/Operations, Marketing Communications, and Go-to-Market as well as stakeholders throughout the organization, most notably Information Technology.

This individual and their team, in partnership with Information Technology, will continually evaluate the competitive landscape and emerging technologies to create sophisticated web, mobile, media, and digital product solutions to provide extraordinary experiences for our customers.

Key Job Activities:

•    Lead, inspire,  and develop the Digital Marketing team including continually evaluating team structure to best align to business needs/priorities
•    Grow the customer base by effectively identifying and driving conversion into the sales pipeline by identifying new acquisition channels and optimize existing ones across the customer journey, including: paid search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), affiliate marketing, display advertising, and new mediums (e.g. Youtube)
•    Bring strong mentoring skills—desire to develop a team; motivate many kinds of direct reports and team or project members; and build a talent pipeline in a fast-growing organization

•    Spearhead the development of digital marketing plans to increase traffic and engagement with new and prospective web visitors to drive sales and be accountable to generating results
•    Ensure a consistent strategy including technology stack and agency support is implemented globally
•    Collaborate with marketing, sales, and customer experience commercial partners to lead key components of developing our digital strategy through the Digital Think Tank
•    Define business requirements for desktop and mobile website customer experience, acquisition flow/landing pages, and SEO Content
•    Develop strategies involving front-end and back-end web development and multi-touch attribution and partner with internal teams to implement
•    Research industry trends and stay abreast of emerging technologies to ensure that Stericycle is leveraging an optimal technology stack to maintain and deliver a world-class digital presence

•    Effectively manage and optimize spend for a network of agency and services providers including web development/media agencies as well as other technology providers to measure and optimize performance 
•    Collaborate with human resources, investor relations, and global teams, in partnership with Marketing Communications, to ensure brand and user experience consistency
•    Develop business plans and annual budget for the Digital Marketing function and work with the senior management to define the organization’s digital strategy
•    Ensure projects stay on strategy, on schedule, and on budget by meeting regularly with internal departments to review work, discuss timelines, and track finances

•    Manage and publish primary, secondary, and tertiary marketing KPIs on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to measure performance and enable agile testing for evergreen and ad hoc campaigns
•    Institute and utilize a rigorous and ongoing test-and-learn methodology to scale online marketing initiatives (A/B testing, etc…)
•    Oversee acquisition marketing strategies and tactics across all digital channels with a laser focus on data, measurement, and aggressive algorithmic budget allocation to drive decisions
•    Utilize analytical tools used for listening, ad tracking, website, app statistics, and e-mail marketing


Required Education: in Bachelors or Equivalent
Preferred Education: in Masters

Experience (North America & LATAM):

•    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. MBA preferred
•    12+ years of marketing experience with at least 5+ years of digital experience with integrated media and marketing platforms that include experience in digital and traditional marketing
•    Minimum 7 years of previous people management experience
•    Successful track record of increasing revenue and profit within a B2B digital marketing environment
•    Demonstrated experience with implementing digital marketing initiatives that will scale to support the requirements of a growing organization with multiple brands
•    Detailed understanding and practical skills managing digital marketing channels across multiple platforms and customer touch points
•    Proven project and team management abilities, with direct, hands-on experience managing large budget digital and social media projects and agencies
•    Experience creating, presenting, and overseeing the execution of digital in-market strategies
•    Demonstrated understanding of paid digital strategies and dynamic messaging in complex, data-rich consumer environments
•    Demonstrated understanding of best practices in online advertising, search engine marketing, database marketing and e-commerce. Experience in managing large budgets on search engines (Google, Bing, etc.)
•    Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate others. Must have strong influencing and negotiating skills and have ability to gain commitment and trust from colleagues. A hands-on collaborative style of working is essential
•    Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work across diverse and cross-functional teams 
•    Passionate about improving Customer Experience
