Position Purpose:

Director, Application Development is a key leadership role that plans, directs, evaluates, and implement software development projects. This candidate will lead application development teams by embracing innovation and an Agile SDLC. The candidate will also establish and maintain a strong relationships with our business partners through clear and consistent engagement and communications. The Director, Application Development will plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of Enterprise information systems and software applications. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and upgrading existing systems and applications. The candidate will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide development teams on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems.

Key Job Activities:

• Drives efficiency and reducing time to market for application delivery as part of our Agile SDLC process
• Leads development efforts and oversees portfolio delivery plans in terms of schedule, cost, scope and quality to drive delivery of technical solutions
• Works with VP, Enterprise Architecture & Development to provide technology and thought leadership in application development and application security
• Works with VP, Enterprise Architecture & Development to guide and develop, communicate and oversee implementation of high-level and low-level design in compliance to roadmap, architecture and design standards
• Directs the planning, budgeting, and operations of the Applications Development department
• Coordinates project initiation, prioritization, and information technology resource allocation
• Promotes automation and continuous delivery to drive engineering efficiency
• Advises and consults with other departments on production software issues, concerns, problems, and questions
• Provides oversight and serves as an interface to executive management for large development projects.
• Provides leadership for administrative systems.
• Mentors, recommends selection of, trains or directs training of, evaluates performance of application development managers and supervisors.
• Evaluates and manages employee performance.
• Maintains schedules, reports and perform analysis of project deliverables and milestones
• Establish and monitor department goals that align with strategy objectives; ensuring individual employee goals are also aligned with departmental and corporate objectives
• Professionally exercises discretion to make timely recommendations and effectively solve problems

Required Education: in Bachelors or Equivalent
