Position Purpose:

The Director of Brand and Public Relations is a critical leadership position within our marketing organization responsible for the strategy, planning, and execution of public relations, social media, and thought leadership activities in addition to acting as the steward for Stericycle’s corporate and BU-specific branding. Collaboration with go-to-market and product teams within Marketing will be critical to ensure activity and resources are aligned against the highest ROI opportunities and with Stericycle’s overall strategy. This position will, over time, add responsibilities in crisis management and other ad hoc public relations needs, potentially including some aspects of investor and internal brand messaging.

 

This leader will be responsible for building a brand worth loyalty. This leader will drive the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to leverage and enhance the position of Stericycle as the go to source for specialty waste management and compliance services. This includes but is not limited to projecting thought and sector leadership (e.g. Newsletters, strategic media placements), cultivating media relationships for message amplification, identifying CEO/senior leader speaking/media engagement opportunities, monitoring and influencing our perception on social media, etc.

 

Finally, this position will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and enforcing brand guidelines as well as creative services for branding and tactical go-to-market/product team support (as well as limited support for corporate functions). This team will manage the digital creative assets of the company and ensure they are properly organized/deployed.

 

This role will manage a material ($1M+) external spend budget with creative and PR firms to support this mandate.

Key Job Activities:

Develop, maintain, and execute public relations/thought leadership plans in partnership with Product Mgmt/Regulatory/GtM to establish/maintain Stericycle as the undisputed leader in its spaces with the ultimate objective of increasing brand awareness/recognition with our core customer segments, improving retention, creating loyalty, and ultimately improving our share position. Ensure plans are aligned with business objectives of commercial leadership. ID opportunities for Stericycle leadership to engage with the public and amplify this message. Build and maintain metrics to support spend and effort for our PR/Thought Leadership activities

Optimize and enforce Corporate and BU brand guidelines. If needed and approved, work to refresh our branding in supported by research and best practices (with external support)

Manage social media presence to improve awareness/recognition with our core customer segments, improve retention, create loyalty, and ultimately improve our share position.  Build and maintain metrics to support spend and effort for our social activities and spend

Manage the process of and generate visual/written content for commercial purposes, including but not limited to physical/digital collateral, thought leadership/newsletter/blog content, marketing presentations, and business development materials

Develop emergency plans in the event of a public relations crisis. This will include developing Stericycle’s public response strategy with the executive team as well as working with sales, operations, legal, and other key stakeholders in the company to ensure they are aware of and trained on proper messaging.

Education:
Required Education: in Bachelor`s Degree
