Position Purpose:

As a key member of the Operations Team, you will be responsible for the day to day management of plant operations, ensuring optimum levels of performance are achieved and sustained in accordance with license obligations and health and safety procedures.

Key Job Activities:

Reporting to the General Manager and the COTC Holder for the site, your role will focus on the effective use of onsite resources and staff – working towards set KPI targets and supporting the logistics team, to ensure quick turnaround and efficiency of operations, whilst promoting a positive team working culture.

Specifically this will involve:


  • The management and allocation of site personnel, including the oversight of staff training and associated plant administration, along with the scheduling and supervision of contractors
  • Organising planned maintenance activities in conjunction with the General Manager and Plant Technicians, Team Leaders and Head of Engineering
  • Co-ordination of PPE, compiling of risk assessments and the provision of a prompt/timely out of hours response service in relation to any issues arising on the site
  • Managing and prioritising operational spending in line with agreed budgets, as well as providing general support to the rest of the management team across all aspects of plant and engineering
Experience (EMEAA):

This is a hands-on management role, ideally suited to an experienced operator, preferably from an allied process plant background with an understanding of waste related legislation, who can demonstrate:

  • A good level of technical expertise and significant engineering experience in a similar environment, including the ability/willingness to undertake running repairs
  • Formal  qualifications – preferably NVQ or equivalent  in Mechanical Engineering – ideally supported by some commercial electrical experience and a 17th Edition certificate
  • Proven leadership qualities, first rate communication skills and a strong customer focus, coupled with plenty of initiative, a positive outlook and the ability to work without supervision
  • A good level of IT/PC Literacy, especially in relation to Microsoft Office packages/applications
