Position Purpose:
Under minimum direction, oversees all maintenance personnel to ensure compliance with the Stericycle directives on Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), permit compliance, equipment maintenance, customer service, productivity, cost reduction, and paperwork completion. Performs all maintenance functions including, but not limited to, preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance on all equipment throughout the plant or facility. Develop and lead projects using six sigma processes. Proficient in mentoring and career development for Supervisors.
Key Job Activities:
• Build and lead a team of maintenance personnel at assigned facilities to ensure the expected performance of equipment or machinery. Makes proactive recommendations to keep assets running at top performance levels. Uses a Lean / Continuous Improvement approach to identify opportunities, maintain standard work, and PDCA different projects and initiatives
• Maintains equipment files, inventory and manages the expeditious purchase and/or re-supply of components. Works with outside machine vendors as necessary to acquire fabricated parts. Works with Plant and Engineering Team as necessary to improve practices
• Applies and uses 3-phase theory and wiring techniques, trouble shoots, replaces components and re-wires motors
• Ability to read electrical schematics for control systems and familiarity with toning equipment for wire tracing, keeping wiring boxes neat and tidy
• Purchases the components and installs simple conduit runs including mounting small control boxes or disconnects, as well as flex conduit
• Troubleshoots and repairs general air pneumatics, including air compressor operation and maintenance, regulator replacement, solenoid valve replacement, 2-way and 3-way valve, tubing installation, and general system troubleshooting
• Maintains hydraulic system including cylinder seal repair, cylinder replacement, bushing replacements (usually by outside machine shop), hose crimper operation (includes matching hose to fitting), fluid maintenance including filter change out, hydraulic pump replacement, valve stack repair and maintenance, fitting specification, and general troubleshooting and adjustments
• Operates electrical machinery and power tools; and ensures all safety and compliance are adhere to in accordance with company guidelines. This includes but not limited to power tools associated with metal machining, including power drills, chop saws, reciprocating saw, grinder, and pneumatic hammers; welder to fuse carbon steel and perform repairs; and welds stainless steel or higher alloys or operates a TIG welder
• Oversees and assists with Installations of CPVC piping up to 6” as well as threaded steel pipe to 2” and soldered copper
• Conducts predictive analysis of all process systems and equipment periodically to update Preventative Maintenance system. Identifies equipment malfunctions, generates work orders, determines proper repair procedures, and assigns appropriate personnel to accomplish the task. Documents all findings on cadence and prioritizes tasks based on findings
• Promotes and supports Stericycle’s commitment to safety and supports all policies and procedures as established within the policies and procedures manual
• Fully supports and champions Stericycle Lock Out Tag Out Policies and procedures
• Enforces LOTO guidelines and leads his/her team in being a safe and compliant team member
• Identify areas where cost reduction can be realized thru vendor relations such as high-quality non-OEM parts, savings in bulk pricing and or quantity ordering
• Responsible for recruiting, training, and developing a team. Assists in the training of Mechanics, Operators and Laborers
• Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
Education:
Experience (North America & LATAM):
• Associates degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing a maintenance facility and 5-7 years of maintenance experience
• Must have experience with operating forklifts, man-lifts, and various rigging equipment in the performance of maintenance activities
• Ability to weld stainless steel or higher alloys and to operate a TIG welder is a plus
• General air pneumatics experience, including air compressor operation and maintenance, regulator replacement, solenoid valve replacement, 2-way and 3-way valve, tubing installation, and general system troubleshooting
• 3,000 hours equipment/Leadership/Management Training
• (SLII)/In-house learning journeys
