Position Purpose:

Responsible for leading, executing, and achieving the Transportation Strategic Initiative annual savings targets. This is inclusive of strategic rebalances, realignments, and mapping within assigned Regions. Must be able communicate and present to Senior Leaders and cross functional Business Leaders throughout the planning, execution, and sustainment of all business activities. 

 

Strategic:

  • Long Range Planning of assigned Regions and Districts outlining:
  • 5 year Facility route rebalance/Optimization strategy that targets a number of sites/year
  • Forecasted Savings/year within assigned regions
  • Provides real estate and capital analysis upon requests
  • Determine multiple options for Facility placement that accomplishes the following:
  • Customer density & reduced stem mileage
  • Optimized asset and labor needs resulting in reduced overall operating costs
  • Provides Fleet Power Unit forecasting to ensure fleet assets are maximized to route requirements:
  • Considering existing customer demand, forecasted growth and spare fleet requirements

 

Tactical:

  • Collaborate with Transportation Logistics teams within assigned districts regions
  • Analyze existing District and Site routing plans that consist of the following route dynamics
    o    Geography
    o    Service Time
    o    Stem Time
    o    Volume
    o    Mileage
    o    Pre and Post Route time
    o    Fuel
  • Develop a plan that optimizes balanced routes considering the following:
  • Facility locations
  • Customer service requirements
  • Transportation costs improvement
  • On - Time delivery schedules

 

Key Job Activities:

Planning:
•    Lead and coordinate the requirements and scope for Strategic Rebalances.
•    Schedule tasks, deadlines, and key milestones to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope. 
•    Identifies and mitigates resource constraints and other risks.

Execution:
•    Communicates plans, progress, Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), and updates actions plans as needed.  Captures and tracks their Strategic Initiative contributions. 
•    Develop, train, and manage a central repository of different templates and tools that are approved for effective analysis, rebalances, realignments, and mapping implementation.
•    Provide the roll up of the executive summaries and ensure they are delivered on-time and accurately. 
•    Develop, manage and communicate needs where there are cross functional dependencies.

Goals:
•    Meets Industrial Engineering and Organizational goals while delivering Strategic Initiatives Savings Targets.
•    Deliver and achieve Strategic Routing solutions that align with Safety, Service, Savings, Sustainability, and Growth (S4G) objectives.

Communication:
•    Contacts (Internal/External):   Regular contact and presentation with all levels of Stericycle personnel. Including but not limited to the following:
o    Senior Leadership Team
o    Operations Leaders
o    Cross Functional Leaders
•    Regular contact with internal / external vendors and consultants.
o    Technical Vendor Reviews Supporting Logistic Software and technology
o    Fleet Vendors Reviews to ensure fleet assets maximize operational capabilities
 

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or the equivalent in related work experience.  BS in a Transportation, logistics or business related field a plus.
  • Two to Three years of progressive waste or equivalent industry experience in a routing capacity.  Demonstrates the ability to manage people in a transportation environment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide safe and regulatory compliant work conditions for all Team Members.  
  • Demonstrates knowledge and the ability to stay abreast of applicable regulations and codes, as they apply to the waste industry and those specific to area of responsibility.
