Position Purpose:



The Plant Worker Lead will guide a shift of under 5 team members to ensure all hazardous waste coming into the plant is unloaded from vehicles, the vehicles are emptied, and waste is double-checked for compliance and safety standards. Also, they will be responsible for helping the productivity of the plant when it comes to the different waste processes performed at the plant. The individual will perform the duties in a safe and productive manner. Provides work direction and advice to lower-level Plant Workers on a regular basis. Trains and supervises others.

Key Job Activities:



  • Unload waste from incoming vehicles.  Separates different classifications of waste
  • Stage containers in order to double-check all pieces meet minimum safety and compliance standards for transport.
  • Scan waste into the WMS system for proper recordkeeping purposes 
  • Segregate and move different classes of wastes to their pertaining processes.
  • Preferably has some knowledge of both TDG regulations and BC Hazardous waste regulations in order to process the waste in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Ideally has experience with operating heavy machinery ie. Front end Loader and excavator
  • Ensures housekeeping issues, e.g., spills cleaned up, the floor is dry, and debris not on the floor, etc., are addressed immediately
  • Provides work direction and advice to lower level Plant Workers on a regular basis
  • Responsible for a single shift only. Not responsible for decisions surrounding hiring, firing or performance reviews
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

Education and Experience:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ Years of Experience, preferably in a plant working environmentAbility to communicate effectively and understand and follow health and safety directives and performance and conduct standards, policies and procedures that apply to the role and location
  • Knowledge and experience with TDG is a big asset
  • Experience operating heavy-duty machinery is an asset
  • Experience in the Hazardous waste industry is a big asset
