We are currently seeking a 2nd Shift Transfer Station Operations Manager to supervise the warehouse/transfer operations by implementing departmental objectives that meets the strategic needs of the company.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Selects, trains, and develops an effective and efficient staff

• Makes every reasonable effort to select, train, and develop qualified, diverse workforce.

• Establishes and communicates performance standards and objectives; conducts performance appraisals.

• Recommends salary adjustments, promotions, transfers and dismissals.

• Monitors operations and staff and recommends, when necessary, changes in methods, procedures, structure, and additions or changes in personnel to secure optimum utilization of resources.

• Counsels employees on educational and job opportunities, which will enhance their career development, and keeps staff informed of current problems, changes, and new developments in the department and company by conducting periodic meetings.

• Administers all Company policies and procedures, communicates to staff, interprets, as necessary, and ensures compliance and safety.

• Monitors and ensures that employees are performing their functions safely and productively. Makes recommendations for changes or improvement, when necessary, in order to prevent accident or injuries.

• Monitors department work productivity, reports on trends, and recommends and implements changes to continually improve work productivity.

•Ensure warehouse operations are maintained in accordance with business needs. Leads employees on delivery of all transfer operations and activities for the site, specific to Sharps Services and Regulated Medical Waste, and ensures regulatory compliance.

•Supervise a team of dockworkers and warehouse workers to ensure regulatory compliance, safety and production standards are being met, and to assure adequate product is available so fleet can properly dispatched for service to our customers and the return vehicles in the fleet are properly off-loaded, and materials are transferred for offsite disposal.

•Effectively communicate with Operations Manager, Transportation Manager, Plant Manger, and ESH Manager to ensure compliance at all times. Work with management to ensure productivity, safety and customer satisfaction.

•Perform Inventory Management to ensure ample amount of supplies are on hand and provided to customers. This includes ordering supplies, reporting of inventory, and monitoring storage and distribution of such products.

•Ensure all employees receive and complete all required training, and attend operational and safety meetings to confirm objectives are being met.

•Oversee all housekeeping/maintenance making sure the warehouse and facility grounds are kept in order at all times.

•Coordinate and perform internal and external warehouse inspections to include daily forklift inspections, and assures timely resolution of identified hazards or unsafe conditions or practices.

•Responsible for the supervision of union employees in accordance with Union contract, and addressing disciplinary actions, grievances and possibly arbitration in conjunction with local management. Provide leadership to all-shift operations crew.

•Ensure their compliance with the Manager’s directives on Environmental Safety and Health, permit compliance, customer service, productivity, cost reduction, care of equipment, housekeeping, and paperwork completion.

Job Requirements


Education & Experience:
•Education equivalent to graduation from High School, or GED equivalent.

•Two or more years of experience, demonstrating the ability to manage people in a manufacturing environment, demonstrating the ability to provide safe and regulatory compliant work conditions for all employees.

•Demonstrates the ability to learn regulations, including, but not limited to EPA, DOT, and OSHA standards and codes as they apply to the waste industry.

•May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements
