Position Purpose:

The shunter's main responsibility is moving trailers, and trucks with waste and supplies out of the Stericycle yard between terminals/warehouses/processing plants in organizing and processing material for shipment, storage, or destruction. The responsibilities include moving equipment, conducting daily inspections, and being responsible for timely movements and thorough knowledge of on-hand inventory and positioning. A Shunter is also expected to organize vehicles within a Stericycle yard to ensure they are ready for unloading, loading, and transport. The shunter will perform standard Plant Associate job duties as required. Assist with loading/unloading supplies. Organize warehouse  

Key Job Activities:

  • Maintains radio or telephone contact with the management team to receive delivery or pick-up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery or pick-up
  • Report any maintenance problems to the management team for follow-up
  • Operates company equipment in, a safe and efficient manner, to minimize the risk of injury and equipment damage
  • Around 25% driving/ transporting supplies and materials, safely and according to company policy and all local and federal laws. between terminals/Stericycle facilities
  • Around 25% drive inside of the yard.
  • Perform all Plant Associate job duties as assigned, around 50%.

Experience (North America & LATAM):

  • Preferred Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively and understand and follow health and safety directives and performance and conduct standards, policies and procedures that apply to the role and location
  • Required Years of Experience: 1 year with class 1
  • Valid Driver’s License from the Nova Scotia Province (Class 1)
