Position Purpose:

The Facility Manager is responsible for overall operations and financial results of Stericycle’s Incineration Facilities.  This individual will collaboratively work with multiple groups including, but not limited to: Sales, Customer Service, Accounting, Service, Safety, and Environmental Compliance ensuring that all safety, regulatory, and customer issues affecting each location are promptly addressed. This person will also ensure that each facility meets or exceeds its goals as it pertains to Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H), Regulatory Compliance, Revenue Growth, Budget Control, Customer Service, and Continuous Improvement.

Key Job Activities:

Selects, trains, and develops an effective and efficient team of managers, supervisors, and plant workers.

Ensures that the facility maintains and exceeds standards and operational related functions in a timely, accurately, and sufficiently manner.

Maintains continuity of operations in line with License, H&S requirements and on site PPC permit.

Establishes and maintains effective contact with local regulatory bodies (Environment Agency) and coordinates inspection.

Co-ordinates Duty of Care Tours with both internal Stericycle employees and external customers.

Works with other Facility/Plant managers and key support personnel in the identification, development, and review of best practices in facility operation, information gathering, and informational reporting. 

Works with Maintenance Manager & Incinerator Operations Manager to plan and schedule routine outages for inspection and routine maintenance, reviews equipment malfunctions, identifies root cause, and develops corrective action plans to production harden equipment.

Performs other related duties and/or project work as required or requested.

Education:

Education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in management or environmental related field preferred, or related equivalent in related work experience.

Experience (EMEAA):

Preferred Certifications and/or Licenses: COSHH, IOSH, forklift, confined space, Environmental permitting & awareness, Emissions monitoring, Accident & investigation, Permit to work, Hazard identification & risk assessment, Asbestos awareness, Legionella awareness, Fire awareness,

 

Working at height, hand arm vibration, Electrical safety, Fire marshall, MEWP, Tower scaffold, slinging & lifting.

 

Five or more years of progressive management experience in plant operations environment, demonstrating the ability to manage people in a manufacturing environment.

 

Demonstrates the ability to provide safe and regulatory compliant work conditions for all team members. 

 

Demonstrates knowledge and the ability to stay abreast of applicable regulations and codes, as they apply to the waste industry and those specific to area of responsibility.

 

Demonstrates the ability to manage within an established budget as well as strong knowledge of budgetary processes, P&L statements, asset management, and project management.

 

Demonstrates knowledge around continuous improvement practices.

 

Demonstrates sound knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 

Must be able to input, monitor and manipulate data within these applications.

 

Demonstrates extensive experience with waste heat recovery to include waste heat boilers, heat exchangers, steam turbines/generators or similar high-speed rotating process equipment. 

 

Experience in the operations and maintenance of incineration facilities and the production of electrical energy via steam turbine is preferred.

 

Experience in the operations and maintenance of high temperature processing equipment such as controlled air fixed hearth, reciprocating hearth or rotary kiln incinerators is preferred.
