Position Purpose:

Oversees a designated incinerator operations shift to ensure productivity goals are achieved while maintaining compliance with all applicable safety and health and environmental compliance regulations, and all Stericycle policies and procedures.  

Key Job Activities:

•    Oversees all Operators and Plant Workers for a designated shift and Custodian activities
•    Ensure all plant personnel perform their tasks safely with proper techniques, while utilizing all PPE and other safety equipment at all times.
•    Assists in the training and development of operations shift personnel in the performance of their job duties
•    Assists in establishing, communicating, and driving shift performance goals
•    Provides shift and individual performance feedback to the appropriate manager
•    Monitors operations and shift team metrics in order to recommend, where necessary, changes in processing methods, operational procedures and personnel utilization to maintain production efficiency
•    Monitors and ensures that team members are adhering to all Safety, Health and Environmental compliance regulations, and all Stericycle policies and procedures.  Communicates to the Operations Manager all issues, concerns and shift team recommendations regarding safety, compliance, and productivity
•    Initiate actions to assure timely resolution of identified hazards or unsafe conditions or practices
•    Reports all maintenance issues through work order system to ensure that issues are identified and corrected.
•    Interface proactively with personnel to achieve business goals.
•    Periodic facility audits, review of all applicable regulatory paperwork
•    Ensures the incinerator waste feed rate and blending is performed properly to maintain correct incinerator temperatures and to maximize throughput.
•    Monitors incinerators and steam systems, ash removal system, ash quality, and Air Pollution Control system parameters to include but not limited to: temperatures, pH, absorber flow rate, reagent feed rates, differential pressures and other system parameters to insure safe, compliant and efficient operations are maintained. Reports any issues identified to the appropriate manager/supervisor.
•    Completes all necessary logging and reporting documents neatly and accurately and file according to procedure.
•    Leads meetings and communication for pre-shift and change over with teams. Share important information about performance and potential issues.
•    Knowledge and ability to perform all other role and responsibilities at the location.
•    Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
 

Experience:

•    High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
•    3+ years related experience or training in a plant or manufacturing environment, demonstrating strong communication skills and tact
•    One or more years of experience overseeing the work of others
•    Proficient  computer skills
•    Working knowledge of Hazardous Materials and OSHA Regulations
•    Demonstrates the ability to operate a powered industrial truck, e.g., forklift
•    Knowledge  of the duties / responsibilities of Plant Workers and Incinerator Operators in order to provide operational and work direction accordingly
•    Knowledge of roll-off truck processes preferred
•    Current valid Driver’s License preferred but not required
•    HMI experience (Human Machine Interface)
•    EPA and Environmental Compliance 
•    SOP experience writing SOP Catalog/mapping.
