Position Purpose:

  • Pay Rate Range: From $19.00/Hour to $22.50/Hour and it is based on the work experience and skills.  It is paid on the weekly basis and OT (overtime) is provided based on business needs and applicable after 40 hours per week. 
  • Daily uniforms and working boots are provided free of charge.
  • Work Schedule: Monday ~ Friday. The shift starts at 7:00am and the Lead Technician works around 9 hours per day. 
  • Licencia de Conducir Categoria 8 or 9 + Licencia de Comision + HAZWOPER/HAZMAT + TWIC Card are highly desirable.  

 

Under limited direction directs, supports, and services assigned organizations requiring the processing and disposition of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials. Acts in a professional and courteous manor, meeting all customers’ needs in regards to waste packaging, segregating, transporting, profiling, training and addressing other customer needs.

Key Job Activities:

•Conduct various activities in a hazardous/non hazardous waste facility including but not limited to: container inspections, switching out of full containers, sorting pharmaceutical waste while complying to federal, state, and local rules and regulations, also consulting with the organization’s staff for best practices.
•Manifest and coordinate the transport of waste safely and according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Schedule waste pickup. Provide work direction to lower level staff.
•Coordinate the identification, segregation, and packaging of chemicals according to DOT & EPA guidelines.
•May facilitate site visits and meetings from regulatory agencies and industry professionals. Promote staff training, conduct facility inspection audits and documentation/record keeping of program implementation.
•Acts as liaison in resolving issues/concerns for clients including, but not limited to, miscellaneous route inquiries, re-routes, request for extra pick-ups, request for change in pick-ups, and request for containers.
•Performs various regulatory compliance and safety tasks. Performs weekly inspections and maintains inspection records.
•Performs warehouse work related to receipt, shipment, storage, distribution, or delivery of waste materials. Loads, unloads, moves, or stores items according to delivery or routing documents, or supervisor instructions and performing general housekeeping duties.
•Perform customer surveys to assess service needs, rollout of program to new sites.
•Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Experience:

  • High School Diploma and/or GED education equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree related to waste management and/or chemical industries.  The ideal candidate will need to have two (2) or more years of experience as a lab pack technician, service specialist, and/or profiling technician.
  • Demonstrates experience and some general knowledge of RCRA, EPA, HAZWOPER, and DOT Regulations as it relates to hazardous/non-hazardous waste management and logistics/transportation of those.
  • Demonstrates good knowledge and proficiency of computers and Microsoft Office, EXCEL and Word and other applications. In addition, the ideal candidate would be bilingual in English and Spanish at advance level: to read, to write, and to speak both languages. 

Certifications and/or Licenses:

Commercial Driver's License A or B (CDL A or B)
HAZWOPER Certification
Hazardous waste certification
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Endorsement
