Position Purpose:

Act as the subject matter expert and owner of emissions compliance related to incineration processes and environmental permit requirements.

Key Job Activities:

Engineering Governance & Process Control

  • Maintain and optimise PLC and plant control systems to ensure all processing parameters are:
  • Operating within permitted and validated ranges
  • Protected through robust lock‑down and change‑control practices
  • Support sites with root cause analysis (RCA) and troubleshooting related to:
  • Plant downtime
  • Emissions deviations
  • Non‑compliance or underperformance
  • Lead or support internal audits, engineering risk assessments, and incident investigations.

Continuous Improvement & Procedure Ownership

  • Own, maintain, and regularly update internal engineering procedures, standards, and work instructions to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Identify and implement improvements in engineering controls, documentation, and operational practices.
  • Lead and deliver training programmes for internal teams on compliance, controls, and engineering standards.

Sustainability & Business Support

  • Support business‑wide carbon reduction and sustainability initiatives, particularly those linked to energy use, combustion efficiency, and emissions performance.
  • Provide engineering insight to support sustainability reporting and project development.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration & IT Engagement

  • Work closely with the IT team to ensure secure and reliable integration between plant systems and business networks.
  • Partner effectively with Operations and EHS teams to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant plant performance.
  • Ensure strong communication, transparency, and alignment across departments.
  • Ensure all operations meet or exceed Best Available Techniques (BAT) and industry best practices.

Education:

Required Education: in Engineering General

Experience (EMEAA):

Emissions governance

Engineering governance, 

Environmental compliance,

Process control activities across our waste‑processing operations, with a specific focus on medical waste incineration.
