Position Purpose:
The Shred-it Route Driver is responsible for delivering industry-leading service to clients while addressing all customer document destruction needs. This includes transporting supplies and materials safely and by company policy and all local and federal laws. This involves loading and unloading the delivery vehicle, ensuring that all cargo is safely secured before transport.
Schedule: Monday-Friday (4-day workweek schedule with the day off to be determined)
Start time: 7 am, but some routes start between 3-4 am (a proper notice will be provided 2 weeks in advance for this start time)
Main Location: 6 Curity Ave East York (this is a swing driver position and you may be required to work from the Mississauga location at 7040 Davand Dr. Mississauga as well)
Hourly wage: CAD 26.40 $
Key Job Activities:
• Performs onsite/offsite document destruction of confidential information
• Performs pre/post-trip checks, driver check-in on assigned truck, before leaving or closing for the day. Report maintenance problems to Transportation/Dispatcher for follow-up
• Operates equipment in a safe/efficient manner to minimize injury risk & equipment damage
• Complies with all local, provincial and federal laws governing driver fitness and hours of service
• Complete and maintain DOT logs when applicable
• Maintains a high level of security when emptying consoles and/or collection totes by ensuring all documents are retrieved and the consoles/containers are securely locked. Services accounts using a hand-held device, ensuring console/containers are barcoded, locations are up to date, and the accuracy of the type and quantity of consoles/containers
• Manages assigned routes, ensuring customers’ confidential material is collected and serviced in a timely and accurate manner
• Handles and responds to all customer problems and inquiries expediently and in the best interest of both the customer and Shred-it
• Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 1+ years of experience, preferably in driving a commercial motor vehicle or box trucks
- Commercial Driver’s License Required: Class DZ with an excellent driving record
- Driver's abstract up to date
- Available to work from the Mississauga (Davand Dr.) and Toronto (Curity av.) location
